And if you were looking for something a little different…
Tech Base Camp
Tech Base Camp is a drop-in social technology surgery. With tips and guidance on how to use social media and the associated tools that help you share networked stories.
Who is it for? Anyone interested in exploring social platforms and online storytelling. From the beginner unsure how to set up a Twitter account; to the practicing technologist looking to hone their skills.
As a blogger, trainer and tech experimentalist, I can talk about a variety of platforms and the methods of use and behaviours associated with them. I can show simple ways of sharing multimedia into those places and find the best tools and workflow for your needs.
Where is it? Anywhere.
I work from a tent. What better adventurous learning environment? My tech and wifi hotspot are powered by solar and batteries. So all that’s needed is an area of grass to pitch a small Tipi style tent. In an emergency, off season or if the weather is extreme, I’m happy to move to a room with a roof.
How to make the most of it: I’m happy for people to drop in anytime. No appointment necessary. Ideally they need to bring a mobile device: A charged smartphone, tablet, or laptop. Questions can be asked at random or around a selection of specific subjects. Should you prefer more structure a day could look something like this:
10am – Sharing social audio using apps like Bossjock Jr, Voice Recorder Pro and AudioBoom.
11am – How to take and share great shots with your smartphone.
From midday – Creating better profiles and creative uses of Twitter etc.
From 2pm – Mobile Video recording and live streaming with Periscope & Facebook Live.
Ask me anything: before and during the event, follow a designated hashtag to ask your questions.
How Much is it? Cheaper than you think. If you’re an individual, or large organisation looking to offer your staff new skills, get in touch. All adventurous charities, NGO’s, educational institutions and corporations catered for. For any questions, or just to express your interest please email me through this blog or find me on Twitter.
