Kodak Zi8 1080p HD Video Camera

So here is what the fuss is all about. Finally a low cost hand held HD video camera with a microphone input. I'm yet to get my hands on a Kodak Zi8 for a proper test but I had a quick fondle for a couple of minutes behind the Kodak stand with Jenny Cisney at NYC 140 Conference. In the dark shadowy corner I shot this very quick video in 720p as the SD card I had to hand was not high speed and Continue Reading

Panasonic HDC-TM300 (Review)

Background It's been ages since I was the proud owner of a decent HD camcorder. The last one I had was a 3ccd Panasonic that took DV tapes. At the time it was way too good for what I needed, so I sold it to upgrade my stills camera. Ever since then I've been dabbling with pocket HD video recorders, in particular the Kodak Zi6. There is not a lot on TV that excites me quite as much as these epic documentaries shot using the latest filming technologies and taking years to complete. The Open University (whom i work with occasionally) are co-producers on this Continue Reading

Nikon D90 video test.

The D90 is Nikon's latest mid range consumer DSLR. It does everything a good Nikon does and brings relief to my shoulder that normally carries the weight of a D3. Although compact compared to other 12.3 Megapixel DSLR's it has most of the guts of the D300. It's a DX format sensor and shoots up to 4.5 FPS with ISO settings up to 3200. More than most consumer users will need and enough to keep even Continue Reading
