Homemade Harmonica Microphone

Homemade Harmonica Mic

The other night I really enjoyed listening to the blues band ‘Split Whiskers‘. Especially the harmonica player who had a great sound thanks to a little handheld mic called the ‘Harmonica Honker‘. I have a mic called the Green Bullet but it’s heavy and cumbersome and gets in the way of playing. Looking around online there are [...]

HDRV – HDR Video is here

I visited Warwick University with Paul Hadley and talked with Professor Alan Chalmers about developments in High Dynamic Range (HDR) video capture. We got to see some incredible footage, as it should be seen, on HDR monitors. We considered dropping some of the footage into the interview above but it would have really sold the [...]

Nokia Booklet 3G Running Mac OSX

I have a Nokia Booklet 3G on loan from 1000 heads but was having issues with such a beautiful device running an operating system I’ve not touched for years. In stepped @Computid Über geek, and in a couple of days he had installed Mac OSX. The background story is linked here… http://su.pr/1hsIfN How how did [...]

Zoom Q3 (First Impressions)

After having a little play with the Zoom Q3 I give my first impressions and a little on what I hope for the Q4 or whatever it’s successor will be called. Zoom are on twitter as @ZoomUK

Zoom Q3 out of the box

I got home to find @ZoomUK have sent me the Q3 to review. Feels sturdy, really well made. It would be nice if the standard def video was HD but this is just the first incarnation. I’ll check it out over the next few days and report back.

Canon Ixus 120is

Back in the 90′s I traveled for a good many countries with a Canon Ixus. Great optics but as it was an APS camera it was next to useless. Expensive film processing and a format that although compact, didn’t survive. My first hands on look at what Canon are are doing now with their Ixus [...]

Vodafone 360

Bloggers corner at the Vodafone 360 event

The dust has just about settled after the Vodafone 360 launch and after having no clue at all as to what I was going to see, I now have much more of an idea and am genuinely excited about what is in the pipeline for mobile users. I’ve never really subscribed to the platforms spawned [...]

Novatel MiFi 2352 Personal Wireless Hotspot

3 mobile router and the MiFi

I have had a personal wifi hotspot of sorts for a while now. A 3 mobile 3G router and dongle have been taking up a large space in my tech bag whenever I am out and about. If I am near a socket it runs from the mains. If I am mobile or in the [...]

Kodak Zi8 1080p HD Video Camera

So here is what the fuss is all about. Finally a low cost hand held HD video camera with a microphone input. I’m yet to get my hands on a Kodak Zi8 for a proper test but I had a quick fondle for a couple of minutes behind the Kodak stand with Jenny Cisney at [...]

Something New From Kodak

Here’s a strange blog post. Just a video really. While I was over in New York at the 140 Characters Conference I got the chance to have a sneak peak at a new Kodak device that I can’t talk about. (They made me sign some seriously legal scary stuff). That said.. It doesn’t mean you [...]
