From pitching ideas in the office to posting holiday snaps to your favourite social places, we use stories in every area of our lives. To entertain, explain, educate and engage.  We are made of stories.

Thanks to the Open University I am able to offer a series of free workshops. These will be hosted by the OU in a number of cities across the UK. Think of this as a chance to sharpen your story-making skills for home, for fun or for professional use. We will be using today’s tools and platforms for documenting and sharing, connecting and curating.

Bring your mobile device or tablet and join us on a storymaking walk where you’ll get the chance to make and share a story of your own. We’ll show you how to:

·         Use a range of storymaking tools and apps
·         Take better photos with your mobile device
·         Record and share audio
·         Capture and share video
·         Geotag your location
·         Integrate multiple elements into your story
·         Use tags to make your story visible
·         Curate and Share your content online.

Events will be regularly held around the UK and there will be a limited number of 12 places with slots will be allocated on a first come, first served basis. Bring your own snacks or a packed lunch but hot drinks will be provided.

    What a great idea for Swindon, home of the Great Western Railways and now the Steam Museum. I understand the power of stories and would love to get to a Workshop. If not Swindon then what about Oxford, Bristol or perhaps Reading.

  10. How about Deepest Cornwall? (or Devon, or Somerset?). I have no idea if the OU has anything down here. If you’re able to host elsewhere, I know a big biome greenhouses in an old mine type place that’d be up for having you…

  12. Re the Cambridge workshop, definitely interested in getting on this one or a future date, should you be able to wangle another. As per my email, our organisation is an official OU partner and we share accomodation at Cintra House in Cambridge.

  13. If you do Cambridge, you’ll have to do Oxford as well 😉 Or somewhere else West of London. Or in London. Would love to come to one of these workshops as my MA project is based around story–telling in web design.
