I’ve been a fan of Scottevest clothing for a few years now. I was first impressed by the design, then by the way that @Scottevest engaged his customers on twitter.
When I bought my first couple of items from the States I got stung with some import tax. It must have been a fluke as it has never happened since. I mentioned it to Scottevest and they/he offered me some free gear. I of course said yes and I had great fun not only beating airport hand luggage limits but also reviewing quality geek gear that enabled me to carry round all my devices.
In the video above I hope I don’t come across as too much of a fan boy. I am honestly trying to compare an original Scottevest Travel Vest to a recent copy that has surfaced.
I don’t mention it in the video because I have only just seen it with my own eyes but you can now buy Scottevest gear through the UK Amazon website. Here is my Amazon affiliate link to the travel vest. This I know is a move in the right direction for Scottevest. We may not have invented Geek clothing, (I may be wrong) but we certainly invented Geeks.
And here’s a video review of the Expedition jacket.
Note: Geek in the UK = Nerd in the US and I am using it as a term of endearment towards those among us who have multiple mobile devices and like to leave home laden with tech.
excellent video, shocking how blatantly AyeGear have ripped off a quality product,I have several of Scottevest products all fantastic
Awesome video, Documentally!
not to mention, something else i just noticed about AyeGear: they didn’t change anything (not the zippers, not the look of the vest, NOTHING). (and this is to say nothing of the fact that i just saw in a recent YouTube-video blog-post that Scott Jordan (co-founder and CEO of ScotteVest) mentioned that AyeGear just purchased one of his products, took it back to the UK, took off the product anything mentioning ScotteVest (including “ScotteVest” labels) and put their “AyeGear” logo on the product, and released it as their own).
i have PERSONALLY seen AyeGear garments [face-to-face], AND photos of them, and they ARE *EXACTLY* as Scott Jordan described. “ScotteVest products, WITHOUT the ScotteVest logo on them”.
yes I would have no issue if they were producing a jacket or vest than could take tech , but its not just that its a total replication of ScotteVest and their work
Where can I find a review between Bagket, Scottevest and AyeGear? Skyscanner did a review on Bagket and compare with some terribly looking product. Bagket was the winner, I want to find out if Bagket is better than the two here.
Not seen the Bagket. wierd name.
Check it out in Skyscanner review, it is a bag as well as a vest .
I personally prefer Bagket because not only can it carry up to 10kg. of stuff, its durable as a travel bag, its look like a vest and it can turned into a shoulder bag if you don’t want to wear it. Fantastic!! Skyscanner’s comparison is fair.
Scottevest is Made in China and in my opinion priced as if Made in the USA. Since I haven’t purchased anything AyeGear I haven’t seen the Made in tag. Can anyone that has one post where AyeGear is made? If litigation fails more competition will bring lower prices and or better quality and maybe some Made in the UK or USA companies that contribute to our economies.
Hi, The Ayegear I had was also made in China.
