In September this year the Stop The War coalition will be 10 years old.
I took the three photos on this page on the 15th of February 2003 in London and they’ll soon appear in a book marking the 10th anniversary of ‘STW’s’ activities.
At the time it was deemed to be the UK’s largest ever demonstration. I remember the day vividly and am yet to experience such an incredible protest. People really felt they could make a difference.
Yet on March the 20th 2003 ‘Operation Iraqi Freedom’ went ahead.
One survey reported in August 2007 over 1 million had died violent deaths in the conflict.
In 2010 Obama declared the war to be over and on September the 1st the US led operations changed their name to ‘Operation New Dawn’.
In January of this year 3 American troops were killed. That’s 4450 US military deaths to date.
This war may never be over. At least not in the hearts and minds of those Iraqi’s who are left.
