I got these five books as a gift for speaking at the MediaContact.ie conference in Dublin.
I’m not a massive reader of social media literature. I know I should be but I like to explore for myself. Out of the books above, I have only fully read ‘Small Is Beautiful’. It was many years ago and I would gladly read it again. I think E.F. Schumacher is a legend and I regard his book ‘Guide For The Perplexed’ as one of the most important reads in my life. That said, I’d like to work my way through these before what they say becomes dated.. But which one to read first?
So @graemefraser says i should read Makers and & @c_j_d We-think Cheers guys.. i’ll read both. 🙂
The only one I’ve heard of is “Here Comes Everybody” by Clay Shirky, so if I had to choose one, that would be it.
Shirky & Leadbeater- for me, a big “MEH”. Knowing you, and your work, to be honest, I don’t think there’s much you’d learn from either of them, and you already work in ways that their suggestions describe. If you are looking to read a few books, take a look at my list- there’s some good ones amongst my lot here- http://www.librarything.com/catalog/PaulHadley No need to go out and buy them though- I’m happy to lend them to you- just like Shirky & Leadbeater suggest;-)Perhaps I need to get out more?
Thanks @HadleyPaul. Much obliged. I will have a peruse at your reading list later. 🙂
