Jim Morrison by Jeffrey Blankfort

 

Of all the cool stuff I have uncovered and re-found today while cleaning out my office, I think this photo has to be the best.

This is a photo taken of Jim Morrison during his first concert at the Fillmore in 1968 by legendary documentary photographer Jeffrey Blankfort.

Jim Morrison told Blankfort that this was his favourite photo of himself.

I sat next to Jeffrey in a talk once and on hearing he had photographed The Doors asked him for an original photographic print from the negative. I was amazed when, true to his word, this fell on my doormat.
